My Sunday Funday Blog

observations so far…

I’m going to stray off course here from my usual shit but please, I hope I don’t bore you. Nobody was hurt or poisoned by this brand-new blog coming out from my fingers and onto the page or computer, this morning. This is not a new thought for me, it is a recurring one… but, what is new is that someone else has shared a similar mindset to what has bothered me for years. An unsolvable humankind problem, but a very simple one as well. Why can’t we have world peace? I know, a lofty unachievable goal, but why does it have to be and why does it bother me so?

We need to quit killing each other, is that so hard? I’m sure none of us believe we can do this but.. and this is a big BUT! What if we can? This new friend suggested we need to do an about-face or change the attitudes that are so ingrained into us from when we are born and before, and it continues beyond our death. I think a lot about this, mainly because I want my kids to have meaningful lives and not worry about going to war or having nuclear fallout kill them.  This is extreme I know, but stuff happens and our planet is not getting any safer to live in… this is something we can all agree on, right?

Can we make a difference? Can we change our ways? What can one person do? Ahhhhh .. therein lies an answer for me but what about everyone else?  This person made me realize I was not alone in my thinking, but more importantly, he thought there could be a solution!  I may be old and my days are numbered for sure but I’m not dead yet, damnit!  We are just the little people, well okay I’m not so little, but what I’m saying is that we are not the ones leading us into doom and gloom. It’s our world leaders who are not doing their jobs to help create a safe world for all of us. We are just a part of the masses letting them lead us.  Our prospects for survival don’t look all that great, especially with climate change thrown into the mix.

And BINGO it just materialized right onto my page.  I can make a difference, all by myself and no one will notice of course, except me.  I already do that in a small way and have been doing it for decades. I hate wasting water and it is my pet peeve. We had a cistern back in the day.. Google it young-uns, I was careful and conserved water in whatever ways I could. I still do that, living part-time in a state down south that gets its water from the Colorado River, I’ve always been appalled at the cavalier attitude given to wasting water there (that is all changing these past couple of years, thank God.) Seriously, nothing is forever, least of all us.

“Imagine All the People” by John Lennon has been going through my head since I read my friend’s story, he wrote a blog about it,  dougwicks.substack.com. Imagine all of us making a difference. People from all countries, every single one, people like you and me, demanding peace. No more killing, no more bombs no more violence. Giving out positive messages and offering hope and a helping hand. Making life simpler and easier, each person doing his or her own thing to help make the earth cleaner and a better place to live.

It wouldn’t be that hard if all of us would agree it’s what we want and we will each do our part.  Let’s tell our leaders to quit killing our planet and our fellow human beings. We want to help each other be better.  We can start with each of us in our own small ways. All of us together are billions of people with only a minuscule of these being world leaders that are keeping us all chained to our past. We can create a new future, we can change our attitudes and we need to spread the message to as many people as possible. We can agree on common goals and make commitments for the common good for all. living here.

Or we can sit back and do nothing and give Mother Nature free reign, she will determine our fate in the end.

that’s all .. not a very Sunday Funday blog, but it’s outta me now…
