What’s next I wonder? growing old is not for the feint of heart

Yes, I made this : )
Yes, I carved this.

What’s next, I wonder. Growing old is not for the faint of heart.

Hallelujah, midterms are over and done with, and Democracy won big time in the States!

Here I sit at my desk sipping my morning coffee, sigh… life is good. I’ve made myself a vow to put politics behind me; omg, this is going to be hard. I’m selling my place down south because of that PP (Pedophile president); see, I broke my vow already… it happens. Will I be able to do this? I wonder as I take another sip of my coffee and ponder this…

I’ve talked myself into liking the idea of spending my winters at home. Well, not completely; my kids still have bets on this. We’ve had our first snowfall (kinda); it’s already gone. I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t like the snow one little bit!!! Nope! My skiing and snowmobile days are waaayyyy behind me; been there and done that, more than most, actually.

Owning a lakefront property in my second life, the kids were brought up with summertime boating and water sports as well as the ice rink and snowmobiles in winter. Christmas at the lake, going out and cutting down our own tree, was our sacred holiday ritual every year. I have many beautiful and precious memories, and the grandkids as well are still enjoying making new ones there.

I’ve been trekking south every winter and even bought my own place there. We had one while married, but I let it go when we divorced, in exchange for keeping my cabin at the lake. Priorities for me. I hated the desert anyway; the only thing I ever wanted was my own swimming pool. I now live in a condo that has a year-round one, indoors, of course.

As it turned out, I ended up buying my own place in the desert (go figure!) BUT it had a swimming pool and a hot tub AND sunshine pretty much every day, omg… I love sunny days. I’ve spent every winter there since, except during Covid, which was a bummer.  And now here I am in my favorite place in front of a huge bay window at my desk, facing the beautiful autumn coloured trees, green grass, and falling leaves.

It was much more stunning a week ago, but then, so was I… okay, a little humour there, lol. Is it just me, or have others felt this ‘out of sorts’ feeling I’ve had for a few months now? I’ve been blaming it on the political landscape down south, but that has all changed. As happy as I am about that, I can’t shake this ‘what now’ feeling or where do I go from here? Is this all there is?

Oh, sure, I have a few irons in the fire, but is my fire dying out, I wonder? I’m kinda excited for Xmas; I’ve even ordered a couple Xmas presents online… omg, I could write a blog on that! Temu is driving me crazy, wanting me to ‘spin to win’ (which I did); I ended up ordering more, which I thought was free… okay, not going there, sorry/not sorry.

The scams are getting to me only because I’m losing my ‘sharpness’ at spotting them, and when did that happen? I dunno. Haven’t lost any money yet (so okay, I was able to get it back). Pure luck on that one. The Temu stuff I thought would be free- I’ll suck it up, like I needed more jewelry, geez. That was a tough one (learning experience); time for more coffee… sigh…

As I age, money has become an issue. The government doesn’t pay me enough to be old and unemployed. Being self-employed for most of my life didn’t help either. When I have money, I spend it; it’s how I roll. Money is only stuff I haven’t bought yet; this used to be funny but not anymore. Most people have registered retirement savings plans; what little I put away I blew on seeing the world… and NO, I don’t regret it.

Thank goodness I have a son that helps me over ‘the humps’ I create in my old age. Living alone is very expensive; most have two people to help with the bills. My YouTube channel @asknana123 is dribbling in some money. I got an offer from a shoe company that wants me to advertise their shoes with a small two-minute blurb on one of my videos. They sent me two pairs of new shoes and OMG… I LOVE them!

Anyone ordering them will get a really good discount (I’m still negotiating). I have neuropathy in my feet, and I also broke my left foot twice in the same place. That is why I need to go south for the winters; I don’t have to wear restricting shoes or boots!!!!! Ah well, and this too shall pass. I start an art class this next week, so we’ll see how this goes. I’ll have shoes to wear in this colder weather… so that’s a bonus :  )

And that’s it for me… have a great week and thank you for reading my blog :  )
