HOW DO WE FIX THIS?
My heart is broken and I actually cried this week, something I haven’t done in a while. I stand up to be counted whenever I see injustice and racism and just plain stupid, but I’m at a loss for what’s happening in our world right now. WHY ARE WE KILLING EACH OTHER???????
What is wrong with us, but more important.. how can we fix it? Seriously, what the hell is happening? Do we want a third world war and how do you feel about losing your kids in war? My dad and all three of his brothers, farm boys from Saskatchewan, enlisted and went overseas to help defeat a foreign country and its evil dictator, from trying to annihilate a whole population of Jewish people because they were Jewish.
Lord help us all, we desperately need it right now. I’m past belonging to a particular religion, I only believe in a higher power. I don’t care what religion someone is. I also don’t judge people by the colour of their skin or what language they speak.
I have traveled to many a country and the one thing we all have in common is .. our smiles and greetings. Where is there a banyou or bathroom, comes in at a close second. Why do we hate people who are not the same as us? I’m a woman and a mom and a nana, Lord don’t mess with my kids! As a woman don’t we all feel this way? I can’t even fathom that some don’t. STOP KILLING US! When we see something say something! Is it a man thing I wonder, and I’m not prejudiced but honestly IS IT A MAN THING? Is it about power or whoever owns the most toys or real estate or countries.. wins? Well is it?
I don’t use slang words for others who are not like me, nor do I support prejudice of any kind, it only breeds contempt and hate. I don’t want my kids to die in a war not of our making. How do we stop all of this hate and mistrust that propagates itself in every corner of our world? What religion, beliefs, or schools serve up suspicion, hatred, and mistrust in the masses? Why do we allow free reign to evil people sowing seeds of hate and copious amounts of self-serving lies? I think that is exactly what has been happening these past years. COVID took a toll on us for sure. Elected leaders taking control and advantage of whole populations while promoting discord, prejudice, and greed surely helped this along. I look to the country south of us, my adopted home in the winter. America was once a great country and now it is divided because of a one-term president that not only didn’t make America great but instead made America hate.. which had a trickle effect on the whole world.
We need to elect intelligent leaders who have morals and empathy that promote peace, not discord. We need to quit thinking we are better than anyone else. We all live here together and the harm one country does to another affects all of us and is not acceptable.. EVER!
We are more the same than different, I just try to be a good person. I love my country, Canada, and I love my kids. I hate violence of any kind, especially with guns. I will even avoid movies of that ilk. No Country For Old Men was one of them. Sorry/not sorry, but a movie full of violence with no redeeming values whatsoever and then winning Best Picture was beyond my comprehension.
I’m an old person, a retired senior and I don’t have any answers and I surely don’t know what is going to happen. We are living in precarious times and thinking about my kids dying because of a world we left them to deal with, was the reason for my tears….
We reap what we sow … let us start planting the seeds of acceptance of everyone, regardless of our differences. Let us adopt a new strategy “Do not kill” anyone anymore, for any reason. Let us make “Peace on Earth” our new Mantra.
