where do we go from here
My blog is vague; I have no clues. We are all in ‘flux’, at least most of us who live in democratic countries. What’s happening to the moral fibre of our very existence? Going backwards should never be an option, yet here we are. I’ve always believed that good triumphs over evil, but now I’m no longer so sure. I’m getting too old for this shit that’s happening all around us.
Are we on the road to oblivion, I wonder? Is a nuclear war on our horizon…? The climate that makes this a possibility is already upon us. If Russia takes Ukraine, we all know they won’t stop there. Here in Canada, we are just a hop, skip, and a jump over the Arctic Circle and voila… Russia! The buildup and refurbishment of Russian outposts in the Arctic has been ongoing for a while now.
The United States has already capitulated to the Kremlin, but only half of its country is aware of this. How do we, in the rest of the free world, see this, and they don’t? How on earth did one corrupt, immoral, and dare I say not very bright person gain such a foothold and influence over such a once great country?
I didn’t want to talk politics here, but I was trying to explain something to my youngest granddaughter. We were looking at a map of the world and talking about the populations in various countries. She is eight years old. She knew that here in Canada, we’re the second-largest country in the world. This got us talking about how many people lived here, and I pointed out India and how many people lived there.
India had surpassed China, population-wise, and she marveled at such a small country having so many people. And so our little journey led us to Russia, which is the largest country, and the war they started with Ukraine. One thing led to another, and it was impossible to shield her from everything happening right now. I did my best not to lay the heavies on; she’s just an innocent child full of optimism and hope.
Maybe everyone should take a step back and think about this. What are we teaching our children? How do we figure our way out of this mess, and how in hell did we get here in the first place? Do we always need a war going on somewhere to justify our existence? How did Hitler get his foot in the door to start that war?
I don’t even know how this is going to end. How do I explain this to an eight-year-old child? My go-to was always “good always wins over evil,” but, but, … I have just lost heart, I guess.
…. update
So I wrote that part yesterday morning, and then the US bombed Iran yesterday afternoon. Taco Don did so without even getting approval from his congress. I don’t know about you, but this same man has access to the nuclear codes, and how safe does this make you feel? It’s only a matter of time before he pulls all of us into a situation that will not bode well for any of us, if he hasn’t already.
I’ve been doing my best trying to ignore all this bullshit, but good grief this is major! It would be different if the Americans had someone with common sense and tact, and dare I say intelligence (sorry/notsorry) leading them, but alas, it’s all just a sorry mess, and we’re all witnesses to it. So there we have it. Russia started a war with Ukraine; Israel is attacking Hamas, destroying Palestine, and now the US has dropped bombs on Iran.
How on earth do we explain all this to our children? All I wanted to do was wean myself off politics, but that conversation with my youngest granddaughter brought it all back on. If I were dead, the world would go on, I know, but … but, but! I need to flush all this somehow.
Mother Nature knows how to keep our world in balance; maybe we should consult her. Or maybe she is already aware and sending all this crazy weather as a warning. If we are kept busy trying to rebuild after all these tornadoes and floods, and storms, we won’t have time, money, or patience to attack other countries. People killing people, it’s insane, we’re certainly ripe for Mother Nature to do us all in…
There… I said it, sorry, and I really am.
