Catching up with my life in progress

Well, it’s time for my Sunday Funday Blog. It’s also time to bring you up to date on what’s going on in my life… omg, like who cares, right? or should I say eh?

The twins, my great-grandsons, arrived on Dec 8th. I’m so excited to be flying home for Christmas, spending time with all of my family. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back into the States because I’m leaving my car here, and I still need to sell my place. Apparently, I’ll need to be fingerprinted and photographed when I fly back. I’ll also need to fill out some kind of form.

Putting that all aside, my book is ready to be published, and that has kept me busy. I’ll be coming home with Author copies, not too many, because I’m flying. But 50 pounds worth or less, gotta keep room for my meds and make-up lol. Sucks to be old, but I’m still viable, the title of my book says a lot :  )

It was fun writing it, and I had a lot to share. Hopefully, I’ll have some sales; we’ll see. This much I can promise you. It’ll make you laugh, and it’ll make you cry, but most of all it’ll make you ‘feel’, and isn’t that what life is all about? This book was five years in the making. I had to abandon it for a while, but things changed, and now it’s finished and into printing.

I’ve also started a podcast under a different persona, oh and my book is also under a pen name. I’m trying to stay incognito, but that is probably a farce. Ah well, if nobody reads my book or watches my podcasts, this subterfuge will all have been in vain. But we need to stay occupied and out of trouble when we age out, right?

How old is too old, I wonder, and do I have enough time to write another book? The one thing I know for sure is that I’m into My-Fourth Life, and what lies ahead is uncertain. Will I leave my second home forever, and will I still be viable as a real ‘all here’ person? Forgetting names and places and where I put my glasses (on my head) scares the hell outta me.

Putting my phone in the fridge was a biggie…, but that was over six years ago when I was still young lol. The day-to-day memory thing scares me somewhat, but I’ll deal with it. I’ll also deal with the minus 30c at home right now, but it’s a dry cold, so no big deal. We dress for the weather, but if I never go outside, then that’s a moot point, right?

I’m now treading into YouTube waters. I’ve always wanted to do a podcast, and this became a reality just lately. I have a ‘roomie’ looking after my place at home, and we are very compatible. She has helped me with my book tremendously (she is also an author). Setting me up with a podcast was my wish come true, and I’m running with it.

I’ve wanted this for years, and now it’s really happening, omg… this is so much fun and so exciting. Being over sixty, okay… seventy, I have a lot to share with the 40 to 50-something women. I remember going through menopause and thinking my life was pretty much over. I was not happy, and ‘living on hold’ was like a life sentence.

Despairing of ever having a real life of my own was depressing. I was always a wife first and foremost, looking after another person’s happiness and needs. I was also a business owner, and that, too, took priority. Being a mom and nana was and is my joy in life, thank goodness for this. And I’m eternally grateful.

My-Third life started when I turned sixty and after my divorce. This is where my life took a major turn. Finding myself and who I was or what I was, has been my greatest adventure. My journey in the here and now is still so exciting and full of adventures and pitfalls and… and… omg, what’s next?

Here’s the thing… stuff, life, or whatever you want to call it, happens to me all the time. I leave myself open to what it has to offer, and with that comes heartaches, yes, but also great joys as well. I certainly don’t take life for granted (a near-death experience in a car accident changed all that), and I’m grateful for each day. Sure, I have down times, I’m not Mary Poppins after all, lol.

But now onto the most amazing thing that has happened to me just recently. My podcast that I started, and trust me, it’s in the building stages and very amateurish, has taken off, so to speak. I have no clue how to edit, and my phone needs a proper holder for it; it keeps falling, lol. My podcast is Ask Nana Anything.

I asked my family and friends for questions that I could answer on my podcast. One question from a family member, which I answered after my third or fourth podcast, went viral. This started a line of similar questions that needed to be addressed, and voila. I’m online to surpass 100,000 views probably by the end of this weekend… is that not crazy or what, eh?

and that’s a wrap!
